Shonishin- Pediatric acupuncture

Sho = Little, Ni = Children, Shin = Needle

Shonishin is a specialised form of treatment for babies and children. This style of treatment is about 300 years ago developed in Japan and is still used by professional acupuncturists today.

Babies and children ask for a special treatment. The first requirement is that the treatment has to be painless. Shonishin is focused on a gentle non invasive treatment.
We use non invasive instruments on the skin to stroke, rub, tap or press. In this way the body receives different kinds of gentle stimulation. Mostly children experience it as comfortable or even pleasurable.

These techniques harmonise and fortify the child's vital energy and strengthen the child's constitution.
Children react often fast on a treatment that means less is more.

Maybe when the children are older we use needles and will there be a mix of Shonishin and Toyohari. Also the use of moxa will be a possibility.

Parents have an active and supportive role in the course of treatments. Not only you express the complaints of your child. You can also take your child on your lap and set at ease.
Maybe you can support the treatments by learning simple techniques that you apply at home.

Shonishin is used to treat a wide variety of problems:
