What does a treatment look like?

In the treatment I look at the human as a whole and not only at the complaint. My practice investigates the cause and discovers a solution.

The first acupuncture treatment
There will be an intake and a diagnosis. I investigate the complaints, the origin and how you deal with it. I look at the emotional and mental wellness of the client.

If necessary I test the acupuncture points for sensitivity.
I look at the tongue and feel the pulse. With this information I come to a diagnosis and make a treatment plan.

In addition to acupuncture I make use of:
earacupuncture, cupping, guasha, moxa and acupressure.

In my treatment plan I explain what I am going to do, so that you can feel at ease and can relax. This relaxation will benefit the actions of the needles as well as the treatment. Placing a needle can give a unusual sensation.

When the needle is at the right point and the right depth than the de-chi-feeling is activated. This can feel like a tingling or electric sensation. It can also give a heavy or numbing feeling. This feels unique for every person. Some people experience the insertion of the needles as painful or sensitive. That feeling lasts a short moment and then it is gone. But most people experience no pain..
The needles stay in for 25 min and will give a feeling of relaxation. I only use single-use disposable acupuncture needles.

Next treatment
We look at the effect of the last treatment. This will be followed up with pulse and tongue diagnosis. Depending of your complaints I will investigate what will be treated
this time and a point localisation will be chosen. The amount of treatments is depending of the origin of the complaint, the vitality and how you react on the treatment.

Preparations before and after the treatment
Don't use alcohol, licorice(black tongue) or excessive meals before a treatment.
Plan your activities, so that when necessary you can rest after a treatment.
